Ypparguirre-Marquat Residence

This one and one-half story bungalow style home was built in 1932 with a vernacular architecture style accented with a bungalow style. The Arendt Jensen Home was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. The home is now privately owned and used for professional offices. Self-guided tours of the home are available through the Historic Walking Tour.

Chris Dangberg House

The Chris Dangber House was built in the late 1800s by carpenter Tom Brown. At the time of construction, the house was one of few in the area, but now is surrounded by structures built over the last 100 years. The house is built with Eastlake Details style and displays a photo of the entire community taken on the grounds in around the 1900s.

Farmer's Telephone Company

Known at the time as the Nevada Consolidated Telephone and Telegraph Company, the company’s structure still remains in Gardnerville. Originally constructed in the early 1900s, the Farmer’s Telephone Company offers self-guided tours of this historic building year-round.

George Brown House

The George Brown House, listed on the State Register of Historic Places since 1988, was built in 1905 by George Brown. The bricks used in the construction of the home were made by the Brown family. The home exhibits Queen Anne architecture style and is a featured stop of Gardnerville’s historic walking tours.

Adaven Building

The Adaven Building was originally built in a Vernacular Commercial architectural style by Baptiste Borda at the turn of the 19th century. In the past, the building has been a merchandise store, a soda fountain and a restaurant. Self-guided tours are available year-round.

This brick bungalow was constructed for Arendt Jensen’s parents in 1916. The home, now used as a professional practice allows self-guided tours of the outside of the structure which displays a vernacular neoclassical rowhouse architectural style

Laura Springs Ranch

Laura Springs Ranch is located at the crossroads of the Pony Express and the Emigrant Trails, now State Route 206. The ranch was was settled in 1863 by Norwegian immigrants. The homestead has remained in the family for five generations and features an antique store, guided tours of the old ranch house and access to the Pony Express Trail. Daily hours of operation May-September are 10am-5pm and 11am-4pm October-April.

Ypparguirre-Marquat Residence

This private residence of the Yparraguirre Family was built in 1924, influenced by Queen Ann architecture style. The family was quite prosperous at the time, owning a prominent general store, and therefore was able to build a large and extravagant home. This residence is available for self-guided tours as part of the Historic Walking Tour.

Gardnerville Branch Jail

Listed on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places, the Gardnerville Branch Jail was built in 1910 to replace the main jail that was destroyed by fire. Although a new jail was constructed in 1915 and located within the basement of the Douglas County Courthouse, this jail was still used for many years. Guided and self-guided tours of the facility are available year round.

Jensen Mansion

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989, the Jensen Mansion was built in 1910 displaying elements of colonial revival architecture style. Currently used as a bed and breakfast, this mansion is included in the stops along the Historic Walking Tour.

Atcheson House

The Atcheson House was built in the mid-1890s by Louis Nelson. The home is maintained by Anna and Henry Atcheson, who purchased the home in 1923. This private home allows viewing of the outside of the house.

Original St. Galls Catholic Church

Original St. Galls Catholic Church
From 1919-1984 this structure served as the first Catholic church in Gardnerville. The structure was purchased by Michael and Barbra Gibbons who renovated it for use of professional offices. The building is considered a feature of the Historic Walking Tour since the private owners allows self guided tours through much of the area. The current St. Galls is located a short distance from here on Centerville Lane.

Sorenson House

Built sometime between 1880 and 1889, the Sorenson House demonstrates a classic vernacular residential style of architecture. The home is now privately owned and used for professional offices. Located on the Historic Walking Tour, self-guided tours are permitted on the exterior of the structure.

C.F.W. Dangberg House

The C.F.W. Dangberg House was originally constructed in 1895 in the architectural style of Vernacular with Greek Revival Detailing Style. The home is located along the old freight stop of freight from Gardnerville to Carson City. Self guided tours of the home and surrounding grounds are acceptable by the private owner.

Bruns Garage Building

Constructed in 1917 by Mr. Henry Burns, this brick building demonstrates utilitarian commercial architectural style. Also referred to as Burns Garage, the structure housed an automobile dealership and repair business until the early 1970s. Today, the building is used as professional offices and welcome self guided tours of the outside of the structure.
