Gardnerville at a Glance
Gardnerville is located in the center of Nevada’s
Carson Valley, recognized as the most agriculturally productive region in the
state. The valley’s pioneering farming history, as well as reflections by local
artists can be experienced year-round at the Carson
Valley Museum and Cultural Center. As a result of Gardnerville’s farming
surplus in the late 18th century and early 19th century, many individual residents
were able to establish their farm houses and businesses in eclectic architectural
styles. Although many of these remaining structures are now privately owned
and house local professional offices, such as the C.F.W.
Dangberg House and the Ypparguirre-Marquat
Residences, public tours are welcome. The best way to experience Gardnerville’s
more than fifteen nationally registered historic sites is through participation
in the self-guided Historic
Walking Tour. Area recreational and sightseeing opportunities are easily
accessible by paved trails within five community parks or on the Martin
Slough Nature Trail.
